The Burlington Police Department would like to encourage citizens to establish a routine at 9 p.m. every night. Citizens should make it a habit to lock their car and house, bring in valuables, and turn on outside lights.
On select Friday mornings, officers and civilians from BPD visit area schools to greet students with a high five as they start the day. This is part of the BPD's effort to establish a positive relationship with the kids in our community.
The Citizens' Academy is a chance for citizens to get an inside look at how the BPD works. You will learn how to collect evidence, use Radar guns, hear from Chief Smythe, and drive a patrol vehicle. We are always taking applications for our next session.
