    Wanna play outside? Wanna build a fort? Bring your creativity and build a fort out of bamboo, sheets and rope. This simple and fun activity will get you and your family active outside having fun! This event is for families. All minors must be accompanied by a participating adult. Free, but registration required. Space is limited.

  2. Creek Week: Family Hike & Creek Exploration

    April 21, 2018, 2:30 PM - 4:00 PM @ Shallow Ford Natural Area

    Bring the whole family! Join Burlington Recreation & Parks and Reptile and Amphibian Biologist Eric O’Neill on this 0.75 mile Basin Creek Trail hike. We will spend some time learning about and looking for amphibians in the creek, so wear comfortable walking or waterproof shoes or boots. Bring a water bottle. All ages welcome. Ages 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult. The hike starts promptly at 2:30. Plan to arrive about 10 minutes prior to start time. Meet in the parking area at the trail head signs.

  1. Scotts® Major League Baseball® Pitch Hit & Run™ Competition

    April 21, 2018, 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM @ Burlington Athletic Stadium (home of the local minor league team, The Burlington Royals)

    Ages: open to boys & girls 7-14 Burlington Recreation & Parks and The Burlington Royals will host a free Scotts® Major League Baseball® Pitch Hit & Run™ Competition for area youth. Pitch Hit & Run™ is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball®. This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete; free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills. The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each division age group at the Local Competition will be awarded and advance to the Sectional Level of Competition. All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition.
