May 7 - Sep. 24 Musical Chairs - Countywide Concert Series Musical Chairs outdoor concert series is a great way to spend an evening downtown or in one of our beautiful parks enjoying a wide variety of musical formats. This program gives local talent around the surrounding area a chance to perform in a comfortable setting and allows spectators to enjoy a picnic if they so desire. Patrons and concertgoers are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy in the park or visit a downtown restaurant for a delicious meal. This series is sponsored by: Alamance Arts Council, Graham Recreation & Parks, Burlington Recreation & Parks, Mebane Recreation & Parks, and Mebane Business Association.

Burlington Recreation & Parks and Teen To Teen Theatre invite you to spend the evening dancing to music from the 50’s and enjoying yummy concessions. Plus, Teen To Teen Theatre will be previewing their fall musical, The Nifty Fifties! There will be dancing and costume contests, plus tons more! AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day featuring Rin Tin Tin - Sep. 11
The Alamance Kennel Club will sponsor the second annual AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day at the Jiggs Askew Memorial Bark Park. The fun will begin with a special pet parade around the dog park. The theme for the event is “Patriotic Pooches” and there will be scores dressed in the ever-popular red, white and blue. One of the highlights of the day will be the Responsible Dog Ownership Program presented by Rin Tin Tin, the world’s most famous German Shepherd Dog. The program will appeal to youth as well as adults and includes information helpful to anyone who might come in contact with a dog. In addition, those attending will have the opportunity to have their picture taken with Rin Tin Tin with the proceeds benefiting the Humane Society of Alamance County.

Dog Splash - Sep. 11
Burlington Recreation & Parks and the Humane Society of Alamance County present “Dog Splash”. Dog lovers bring your favorite canine friend to the Maynard Aquatic Center for a “doggie dip.” A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Humane Society of Alamance County. Proof of rabies vaccination must be provided on the day of the event. Owner must stay with dog at all times. No dogs in heat or aggressive dogs. NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Youth Football Competition - Sep. 11
Burlington Recreation & Parks presents the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Youth Football Competition. The competition is open to ages 6-15 and is free of charge. Girls and boys in five separate divisions (6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14-15) compete against each other in punting, passing and place kicking in a fun and engaging forum. Burlington Carousel Festival - Sep. 18 - Sep. 19
The Annual Burlington Carousel Festival will mark its 23rd anniversary on September 18th & 19th at Burlington City Park. The Dentzel Menagerie Carousel, one of the most historic treasures in Burlington was built around 1910 by the Dentzel Family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and will celebrate it’s 100th Anniversary at this year’s event. Each year the city comes together to celebrate the Carousel by hosting the Annual Carousel Festival. Artists Alley, an area where fine artists and craft exhibitors display and exhibit their work features original Carousel wood carvers as well as paintings and much more. The Children's area offers families the opportunity to take a ride on the Carousel or one of the other amusement activities that are permanently located in the park. Bring a chair and enjoy the sites and sounds of the local music and entertainment.

Hunter Education Program - Sep. 25 - Sep. 26
For All Ages (recommended for ages 12 & older)The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and Burlington Recreation & Parks presents the Hunter Education Program. This program is designed to promote the safe handling of firearms and archery equipment, teach responsible, ethical conduct by hunters, educate sportsmen in the various methods and the proper use id equipment harvesting game, and endorse the importance of wildlife management laws and regulations. Participants will receive their Hunter's Safety Certification and badge after passing a written exam. Participants must pre-register and attend both days.
