It is our mission to serve all the people in Burlington by providing protection from fire, assisting during times of natural disaster, and preventing further injuries after an accident occurs.

The Burlington Police Department is a full service law enforcement agency that employs 109 sworn and 34 civilian personnel. The department is comprised of professional, dedicated employees who work within a number of diverse divisions throughout the department. The Burlington Police Department is an accredited agency through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc.

The Emergency Management Division is charged with coordinating the preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery efforts for the Police Department and other city agencies in natural / manmade disasters and special police operations. The division is available to provide coordination and support services to the police and other departments during times that routine operations are taxed and additional resources are required.
