Social Media Comments Policy
City of Burlington Social Media Comments Policy
We welcome you and your comments on the City of Burlington’s Facebook Page and other official City social media sites.
The purpose of these sites is to provide information about City of Burlington services and programs as well as other information that is of public interest to residents, businesses and visitors.
We encourage you to submit your questions, comments, and concerns, but please note that this is a moderated online discussion site and not a public forum. All content posted to the City of Burlington’s social media sites by the public should be related to discussion of City sponsored programs, services, projects, issues, events and activities.
The City reserves the right to delete submissions that:
While the City of Burlington understands that social media is a 24 hour-a-day, 7 days-a-week medium, the monitoring capability of the City’s Public Information staff is not. The City therefore asks that no requests for emergency service or immediate response be made through social media.
Please note that the comments expressed on social media sites do not reflect the opinions and position of the City of Burlington government or its officers and employees.

- promote particular services, products, or political organizations
- infringe on copyrights or trademarks
- violate any local, state, or federal laws and/or is otherwise unlawful
