Fitness Program

The Fitness Room

To join the fitness room, you must pay the membership fee as well complete the orientation session to be trained in the safe operation of the fitness equipment.

Membership Fees

    Resident: $25 per month /  $125 per year
    Non-Resident: $30 per month / $150 per year

Personal Training Option

Offered by Amanda Sommer.
Private 30-minute sessions are $25.
Semi-private (2 people) are $15 per person.

Fitness classes and the fitness room are located at the Kernodle Senior center. Various exercise classes are available and geared towards keeping seniors active, fit and healthy. The fitness room requires a paid membership, but contains state-of-the-art fitness equipment and machines. Pickleball and badminton are available for Seniors at Fairchild Community Center gym.

A Matter of Balance

4-Week Session
Tuesdays & Fridays from 1:00 - 3:00 pm
For Adults 55+
Cost: Free (funding provided through Title III)
(Class begins January 29th - register by January 10th.)

Designed to manage concerns of falling through balancing and strengthening exercises. Classes include discussions and education to help prevent falls. Snacks provided. Space is limited. Call  (336) 222-5135 to register by January 10th.

Easy Does It

Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10:00 - 11:00 am
For Adults 55+
Cost: $35 for a 10 class punch card
Class is for those who are trying to become more active. Exercises done either sitting in a chair or standing and holding the chair for support. Improve flexibility, stamina and balance. 


8-Week Sessions 
Tuesdays & Thursdays at 6:00 pm
For Adults 55+
Cost: $40 for 8 week class
(Class begins Jan. 8 - no prorating)
Strength training for those who would like to increase strength, muscular endurance, or tone their body. Benefits include improved joint function, reduced risk of injury, increased bone density, increased metabolism, improved cardiac function, increased strength & balance. Baseline weigh/BMI may be calculated to monitor improvements during the session. Call (336) 222-5135 to register.

Stay Active & Independent for Life (SAIL)

Mon, Wed & Fri from 9:30 - 10:30 am
For Adults 55+
Cost: $35 for a 10 class punch card
The program includes endurance, flexibility, and strengthening exercises which improve mobility, range of motion & stability. This class works well for those who are somewhat active or have taken a class such as Easy Does It. This class can be adapted for those requiring a chair for seated exercise.

Use Tai Chi to stay active without fear of falling or stressing your joints. Make a commitment to yourself t o start living healthier. Space is limited. Call (336) 222-5135 to register.

Healthy Back Exercise Class

Mondays & Thursdays at 1:00 pm
For Adults 55+
Cost: $35 for a 10 class punch card
(Class begins January 7)

These exercises, based on the Meeks method, are designed to improve back health by promoting strength, flexibility, relaxation and improved posture. Exercises are done on a mat. Instruction provided to help those who have not exercised on the floor to get up and down safely. Call to (336) 222-5135 to register.

Exercise through easy and fun dance steps. Taught by Peggy Guyer. Please register as soon as possible. Space is limited. Call (336) 222-5135 to register as soon as possible.Classes start January 28th/29th.

Cost: $35 for 10 class punch card

Use your body weight in addition to bands, medicine balls & dumbbells to strength and sculpt all the major muscles! Classes include core training and stretching.
