Thataways Afterschool Program  

School Days, August-June from 2:30 pm - 6:00 pm  
Ages: Elementary & Middle School Students

Burlington Recreation and Parks offer a pickup and drop-off Afterschool program at Thataways for River Mill Academy. Field trips, homework time, and arts and crafts are provided in a safe and fun recreational environment. Burlington Youth Council

Mondays (September - May) from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Ages: Middle & High School students only!
Cost: Free

The Burlington Youth Council (BYC) is a community service organization that meets the needs of the Alamance/Burlington middle and high school students. The BYC is the backbone of Thataways, in which they offer suggestions of programs and activities that are held there. This active group of teens volunteer for various events and assists with local programs in the Alamance County area as well as offering activities for themselves. Teen to Teen Video & Theatre

Mondays 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm 
Ages: 13-19 
Cost: Free

Teen to Teen Video & Theatre explores difficult issues that affect adolescents through the creation and presentation of dramatic skits and workshops. Teens perform original and scripted works including plays, musicals, and videos. Participants receive training in basic acting skills and character development, plus helpful information about community-based assistance and learning to make healthy life choices. Teen To Teen Video and Theatre is designed to educate, empower and encourage our youth. Presentations can be provided to community, church, scout, youth and special interest groups by special arrangement. Tuesdays 

Special Populations Dance

Tuesdays 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm 
Ages: 16 & older 
Cost: Free, small cost for games and concessions

Dances are designed to offer persons with developmental disabilities an opportunity to dance and socialize. We'll also have billiards, foosball, and video arcade games, as well as four televisions for watching pleasure. Concessions are also available, so come out for a fun time and get to know others.

Bingo Night for Special Populations 

Wednesdays 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm 
All Ages 
Admission: Free

We will be offering Bingo to any age person with developmental disabilities.  If your club or organization would like to help by donating prizes for Bingo night, please call (336) 222-5134. 

Thursdays 

Country Line and Couples Dancing 

Thursdays 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
All Ages 
Admission: $5 per person

Dance hours are offered to individuals of all ages interested in learning to dance from beginners to advanced. A variety of dances are offered from two-step to the newest country line dances. Instructors are on hand to teach the latest dances.
