Each December the Burlington Police Department participates in a program called Shop with a Cop.
Members of the BPD, both staff and civilians, take 75 underprivileged children shopping for their Christmas gifts at a local Walmart. The department spends $100 on each child and gives the family of that child a week's worth of groceries.
Additionally, BPD spends time with and takes a week's worth of groceries to elderly citizens in the community that live alone.
This program is made possible entirely by sponsorships and donations from the community. We wish to ensure every child has gifts, each family has food, and no one feels alone for the holidays. For more information, please contact Allie Davis.
