The flagship of the Burlington Parks System, City Park offers more than 75 acres of activities for the entire family. It serves as the home of an amusement area, one of only a handful of municipally operated in the state. A fully restored Dentzel Carousel is the highlight of the amusement area. As part of the National Historic Register, the carousel attracts thousands of visitors yearly. Throughout the spring and summer, the park comes alive with events, concert series, and baseball and softball tournaments. The park is located one mile from Downtown Burlington on South Church Street.

This carousel is a 3-Row Dentzel Menagerie Carousel built around 1906-1910 at the Dentzel Carousel Company on Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Learn about the history of this amazing icon of Burlington City Park.

Rent the Carousel Event Space
Need a unique space for a meeting or gathering? Try the new Carousel Event Space - which includes Carousel rides! Email or call the Recreation and Parks Office at (336) 222-5030 to schedule a rental.
- Public Rental
Includes private usage of the event room but shared use of the Carousel with the public. The rental fee is $250 + $100 deposit and includes ride wristbands for up to 15 (10 kids + 5 adult wristbands). Additional wristbands are available for $5/child and $2/adult. Play on the Playground & Visit the Sister Cities Fountain
Slides, swings and benches for the tired parents. Always an easy way to let the kids get out their energy before hopping on the rides! Adjacent to the playground is a beautiful fountain that was donated by our Sister City, Soledad de Graciano Sánchez. Take some time to sit by the water and relax.
Picnic at a Park
A picnic in a park is always a good idea. There are many lush places to spread out a blanket in the shade and have a picnic. If you are planning ahead, reserve one of our nine shelters/gazebos. Many of the shelters are equipped with a grill so fire up the charcoal. Advanced reservations are required for picnic shelters.
Take a Walk & Explore
Take a walk and explore the local wildlife in Little Alamance Creek. The park offers trails that will take you over the bridges of Little Alamance Creek. This waterway offers a great place for kids and parents to discover some local wildlife. Learn more about the Little Alamance Creek Healthy Streams Cooperative.

Downtown is less than a mile from City Park and offers great restaurants, May Memorial Library, a small historical display in the downtown Amtrack Station and historic Paramount Theater. - Walkable Restaurants
Across Main Street from the main parking of City Park is the restaurant Mayberry at the Park it is a local favorite and great place to cool off from the heat during those steamy park days. They are known for their ice cream! On the corner of Overbrook Drive and Church Street is a restaurant aptly named The Park Restaurant. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served!

Burlington Carousel Festival
Join us for the Burlington Carousel Held the first full weekend in May each year. Live music at multiple stages, arts & crafts fair, food, and a beer garden, amusement park rides & fun for the whole family will fill Burlington’s City Park throughout the weekend.
Summer Concert Series in the Park
Bands take the stage at City Park on select Friday evenings in the summer. These concerts are part of the county-wide concert series in partnership with Alamance County Arts Council. Bring your chair, blanket and a picnic and be part of a Burlington tradition in our largest city park.
Christmas in the Park
The park becomes a Christmas wonderland of twinkling lights, garland, and holiday inflatable decorations. Santa and Mrs. Claus always make an appearance. Join us at the end of December for this special event!
