Loose leaf collection is performed by the Cemeteries & Grounds Division during the months of October through January. Burlington is divided into four leaf pick-up zones that are each picked up once a month. To find your leaf collection zone and schedule, see map below.
Should you require more frequent leaf collection, you may place leaves in your yard waste container (no more than a 32 gallon container weighing less than 50lbs) and placed at the curb on your normal trash pick-up day. Leaves in plastic bags will not be picked up.Plastic bags are no longer acceptable and are banned at the disposal site per the NCDEQ.
Loose leaves should be piled behind the curb, or on the shoulder of streets without a curb and gutter, by 7am on the Monday of the scheduled week of collection. Please do not place leaves in the street, drainage ditches , or over water meters. Also, we ask that you not park in front of or on leaf piles.
