Burlington's volunteer Citizen Advisory Boards and Commissions perform the important function of advising the City Council about matters including preservation of historic sites, zoning, recreational facilities, and traffic within the City.
Quasi-Judicial Bodies
Board of Adjustment:
Considers Special Use Permits and Variances to the zoning ordinance and hears appeals to the decisions rendered by the Zoning Administrator. Meets 2nd Tuesday of each month at 8:30 am, City Council Chambers, Municipal Building.

Burlington Historic Preservation Commission:
Advises City Council regarding the historic preservation of the community and directs the local historic site and district program. Meets 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm, City Council Chambers, Municipal Building.

Burlington Housing Commission:
Hears matters concerning housing conditions and condemnation orders in the City. Meets 4th Tuesday of each month, 10:00 am, City Council Chambers, Municipal Building.

Advisory Bodies
Burlington Arboretum Advisory Board
The Arboretum Advisory Board is made up of volunteer citizens and city staff and performs the important function of advising on matters concerning the Burlington Arboretum at Willowbrook Park. The board meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 5:30 pm at the Kernodle Senior Center.

Community Police Advisory Team APPLY CPAT HERE
The Community Police Advisory Team advises and recommends policy enhancements and equitable practices to meet the needs of the community and police.

Planning and Zoning Commission
Advises City Council on planning, zoning and subdivision matters. Meets 4th Monday of each month at 7:00 pm, City Council Chambers, Municipal Building.

Public Transit Advisory Commission
Advises on matters concerning Link Transit. Meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 5:30 pm, Municipal Conference Room, Municipal Building.

Recreation and Parks Commission
Advises City Council on matters involving recreational facilities operated by the City. Meets 2nd Thursday of each month at 5:30 pm, Kernodle Center, 1535 S Mebane Street.

Traffic Commission
Considers matters relative to the safe and efficient flow of traffic in the City. Meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm, City Council Chambers, Municipal Building.

Tree and Appearance Commission
Makes recommendations to City Council regarding community appearance. Meets 3rd Wednesday of each month at 4:00 pm, Public Works Conference Room, 235 E Summit Avenue.

Other Boards and Committees
Alamance County Library Committee
Recommends programs, policies and regulations for the operation of the library and advises the Alamance County Board of Commissioners on library matters. The Committee meets at one of the four libraries at 12:00 noon four times a year or as otherwise called.

Burlington - Alamance Airport Authority
Directs maintenance , activities, and operations of the Airport. Meets 3rd Wednesday of each month at 12 noon, Burlington-Alamance Regional Airport.

Burlington - Graham Board of Alcoholic Beverage Control
Oversees the operation of ABC Stores and disburses profits from the sale of alcoholic beverages. Meets the last Thursday of the following months: Jan, Apr, Jun, Jul, Oct; at 4:30 pm, General Office, 603 W Harden Street, Graham.
Burlington Housing Authority
Directs all federal housing projects within the City. Meets 1st Thursday of each month at 12:00 noon, Housing Authority Office, 133 N Ireland Street.
