 | In addition to fire training, members of the Department also practice emergency medicine and rescue techniques. All firefighters hold certification as North Carolina Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT's). This certification allows personnel to utilize advanced airway tools, utilize semi-automated external defibrillators, administer medications for certain medical emergencies, and provide basic life support medical care for various medical emergencies. Personnel participates in monthly continuing education to maintain their skills and stay current with the latest trends in emergency medicine. Our Battalion Chief of Emergency Medical Services coordinates this training through the Continuing Education Division of Alamance Community College. The rescue training consists of vehicle extrication, confined-space rescue, water and rope rescue. |
