E-mail Traffic Signal Division
The Traffic Signal Division staff works with citizens, other City agencies, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and the Traffic Commission on the following items:
- traffic signal operation
- traffic signal maintenance (emergency and preventative)
- traffic signal/flasher requests
- signs/marking requests in conjunction with Signs & Markings Division
- site plan review through Technical Review Committee (TRC)
- transportation planning through Burlington-Graham MPO
- streetlight management
Computerized Signal System
The Traffic Signal Division operates and maintains the Burlington/Graham Computerized Signal System. The system consists of approximately 200 traffic signals and other traffic control equipment located in the cities of Burlington and Graham. The system allows real-time communications, via fiber optic cable, to each traffic signal.

Flashing Yellow Arrows
New Flashing Yellow Arrow turn signals are being installed throughout Burlington.

To report traffic signal malfunctions:
Call 222-5131 between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm, M-F
Call Burlington Police Department at 222-3500 all other times
To report traffic signal timing issues:
Call 222-5131 between 7:00 am and 6:00pm, M-F, or email the Traffic Signal Division
To request a signal, signing (no parking, speed limit, etc.):
Call 570-6156 between 8:00 am and 5:00pm, M-F, or email the Traffic Signal Division
To report street light outages/malfunctions or requests:
Call 222-5079 between 8:00 am and 5:00pm, M-F, or email the Traffic Signal Division
